I love to see the Temple, I'll go inside someday...

This weekend was a very good weekend. First off the Young Men and Young Women in my ward are doing this program called STEP ( Students Trying Elijah's Promise.) Its all about family history work. On Saturday we had a big program to start it off. It was from 9:30-3:30!! ALL DAY! But it was great! We started off with a little program where our new Bishop spoke and the old Young Women's president from Val Vista ward spoke. Val Vista was the first ward to do this STEP program and since then Highland ward has done it as well. One thing that the Bishop said that I really liked is that if we do not do temple work than it is a waste for us to come down here. Our purpose to come to earth is so we can live with our Father in Heaven again. The way we can live together for eternity is if we do temple work. We need to do temple work for our ancestors. Then a lot of people from my ward were pretending to be a dead person on the other side of the veil and asking if anyone had their name so they could be saved. If we had their name we got to go up and take them down the stairs and sit with them like they were now in Spirit Paradise. Every once in a while there was somebody that nobody had, and that person had to sit back down in Spirit Prison. In their face you could see their sadness and they would say things like, " Its been so long can somebody please save me!" One that stuck out in my mind the most was a family of a mom and a dad and 4 children. ( The mom is the beehive advisor in my ward.) The family talked about their hard life and how they died and wanted to be together again. They would ask do you have my name? Every single one of them had a name until they got to the little girl who was about 8 or 9. She asked if anyone had her name and no one did. You could see the sadness in her eyes. She said, " Oh papa what am I going to do?" Her dad said that sometime someone would get her name and then she could be with them. That one seemed the most real in my mind. The point of this little presentation was to motivate us to do temple work. We went over by the temple to the family history center and we all got a login and password so we could see our family line. It was very neat!! We learned how to identify who needed to be baptized, confirmed, endowed, and sealed. Our goal as youth is to find 600 names ( all together) of our ancestors that we can be baptized or confirmed for. They are planning a big temple day where the youth will be baptized for their dead ancestors and the parents will do the sealings and other temple work for them. The other part of my day was going to the Gila Valley Temple with my family! The temple was BEAUTIFUL! I loved the Celestial room!! It was gorgeous! I'm glad I was able to go inside a temple! The dedication for the Gila Valley Temple is in 2 weeks. They are broadcasting it in all stake centers in Arizona. It will be interesting to see, I've never seen one before.

I love to see the temple,
I'm going there someday.
To feel the Holy Spirit
To listen and to Pray.
For the Temple is a House of God
A place of love and beauty
I'll prepare myself while I am young
This is my sacred duty!

I love to see the temple,
I'll go inside someday.
I'll covenant with my father
I'll promise to obey.
For the temple is a holy place where we are sealed together
As a child of God, I've learned this truth
A family is forever.
